How to contain asphalt from splashing against machine while being rewound?

We have a machine that coats screen product ,it then goes to an asphalt rewinder. This machine then rewinds the coated screen to certain sizes. As it is being rewound the asphalt splashes all over. How can this be contained? If the asphalt was just applied to the screen and some what warm it doesn't seem to splash but if the product sits and cools down the apshalt splashes off the screen. Would it damage the asphalt if it was heated prior to running to avoid the mess?
