Are there different types of asphalt for driveway use?

I may want to get a portion of my drive done in asphlat and I want to make sure I get "the best for the application". Are there specific different types for residential driveways? Is there "good, better and best"?

Like any construction you need a good foundation, good drainage and high and dry if possible. Use a contractor that is reputable. You can design a pavement to be light, medium or heavy duty depending on application.
