grass growing through asphalt in parking lot | |
on march 11, 2008 i paid a contractor $15,500 to pave a parking lot for me at my business. one week later the grass started growing up through it. now 45 days later there is a lot of grass growing through it. the contractor is spraying roundup on the grass which is killing some but it is still growing up through. he indicates that as part of the paving job he: scraped up all grass and hauled off, killed remaining grass with saot, hauled in base and compacted to level existing surface where there were holes and old broken up asphalt, and applied 2 inches of asphalt hot mix, rolled and compacted. what are my options for this. he and i are at a point where neither is happy, im not happy with the job, he is not happy because i am talking about the lot. he is a reputable contractor who has been in business for a while, and i just think this is one of those jobs that did not come out right.

i have the exact same problem. i paid $20,000 to get my driveway done which i thought was very cheap considering how big it is. i was told that its normal for grass to grow through it for the first few weeks. but it has been well over a month and putting round up on it is doing nothing, it just grows up beside it. what gets me, is how the hell is soft grass pushing up through the asphalt? its not just growing through porous parts of the asphalt. its actually pushing up through it and look like little volcanoes all along the edges. ive had enough of it! was bad enough weeding the driveway more than the gardens before, now im weeding my asphalt driveway - way to go boys!!
