Why are your answers inconsistent?

How come in your answers you say that a ton of asphault will cover 4.5m^2 X 4" thick = 16.15 cu-ft and in another post you say a ton will cover 80 sq-ft X 2" thick = 13.33 cu-ft.

Which one is it?

these answers are provided (i assume) by different contractors. different people do things in different ways. i am a landscaper and have heard of at least 10 ways that paving should be done, most of them work. who's right? which is the best way? how long is a piece of string?
