"Gap graded asphalt" is the same as Stone Matrix Asphalt, which is asphalt that maximizes rutting resistance and durability with a stable stone-on -stone skeleton held together by a rich mixture of AC, filler, and stabilizing agents such as fiber and/or asphalt modifiers. Mostly these types of mixes are used on high volume highways due to the higher cost of production and placement.
